What size adjustable dog collar do you need for a dog?

 

For a proper fit, measure your dog’s neck with a flexible tape. Pull the tape tight, but not too tight. Leave enough space between the dog’s neck and tape(about one or two fingers). Our adjustable collars display a fitting range. Choose the size where your cm or inch is right in the size range. Don't you know what size to get for your new family member? Small 
The Adjustable dog collar is adjustable between 20 and 29 cm. The Collar is 2cm wide. The matching Leash is 180 cm long and also 2 cm wide. 

Medium
The Adjustable dog collar is adjustable between 27 and 41 cm. The Collar is 2cm wide. The matching Leash is 180 cm long and also 2 cm wide. 

Large
The Adjustable dog collar is adjustable between 33 and 52 cm. The Collar is 2.5 cm wide. The matching Leash is 180 cm long and also 2.5 cm wide.

Exra Large

How soon should I get a collar?
You’ve decided to get a puppy and are looking forward to welcoming your furry dog home. Certainly, you’ve got a few things to get sorted before s/he arrives though! But what size collar will you need for your puppy?

Your puppy’s first collar - we suggest an adjustable dog collar

Your puppy may have worn a very soft, lightweight coloured collar at the breeders to distinguish her/him from the rest of the litter. This collar will be quite different from her/his future collars. Possibly, your breeder may provide a collar. But you may want to have a new special “coming home” collar ready! Depending on what breed s/he is, s/he may grow considerably  in the first weeks and months. In most cases, the first collar will be outgrown within the first 6 months.

Many people want to have a dog collar to hand to put on their puppy as soon as they arrive at their new home. It’s a good idea to get your puppy used to wearing a collar from day one. It is in most of EU country's by law that all dogs (there are a few exceptions to this) must wear a collar with identification. Ideally, the sooner your puppy starts wearing a collar, the quicker s/he will get used to it. So that means getting a collar for your puppy before s/he arrives home and before you’ve had a chance to measure her/him! What size collar should I buy for my puppy?

One of the questions we get asked the most is “what size collar for my puppy?” Generally if we know what breed your puppy is, we can make an educated assessment of what size of collar your puppy will need. Check out our breed table and suggested collar sizes when buying an adjustable dog collar of The Dog Musthaves. If you are really unsure, you can always buy 2 sizes and return the unused one to us.* Please note you can not return a personalized (engraved) dog collar. 

Be aware this is just a suggested dog collar size. We recommend to ask the breeder how big the neck size is for a perfect fit.
