The production process of a personalized collar or dog leash made of leather or other material can include several steps. Here's a general overview of the process at thedogmusthaves.com:
1. Design in our own studio in the Netherlands: It all starts with the design of the collar or leash. This includes determining the dimensions, choosing the type of leather, selecting the color and pattern, and adding any personalization you want, such as the dog's name or other details.
2. Material selection: After the design is completed, the appropriate leather is selected. High quality leather is chosen for durability and aesthetics. Different types of leather, such as full-grain leather or nubuck leather, can be used, depending on the desired look and functionality. We are committed to the responsible sourcing of all raw materials and to consistently improving the sustainability metrics of our supply chain. We see this as an eternal work in progress.
3. Cutting: The leather is then cut into the desired shape according to the design. This is done by hand in combination with the use of machines, such as a cutting plotter.
4. Edge finishing: The edges of the leather are processed to smooth and prevent fraying. This can be done by planing, sanding or polishing them.
5. Sewing: The different parts of the collar or dog leash are sewn together using a sewing machine. Strong threads or yarns are used to ensure that the seams are sturdy and durable. The brass parts, such as buckles or rings, are added and sewn. Our integrated dog tag is also added.
6. Personalization: If personalization is requested, such as the dog's name, this can be done using special engraving technique. This usually happens after the sewing is finished.
7. Finishing: After sewing and personalizing, any loose threads are trimmed and the leather is cleaned and polished. Any edges are further finished to ensure a neat and professional appearance.
8. Quality Control: Before packaging the collar or leash, a thorough quality control is carried out to ensure that the product meets the required standards. This includes checking the seams, checking the attachment of parts such as buckles and rings, and generally checking for any flaws or imperfections.
9. Packaging: The finished product is carefully packed, in a protective paper film, sleeve or box, to ensure that it reaches the customer in good condition.
These are the general steps involved in the production process of our personalized collar or dog leash made in our own workshop. The process may vary depending on customer demand and specific requirements.
